Static vs dynamic QR codes

Static: the destination is encoded directly. Free, works offline, never expires, but cannot be edited or tracked. Dynamic: the code holds a short redirect link, so you can change the destination and count scans, but it depends on the provider staying up and (usually) on a subscription. QRCode.Pub offers both: free static codes, and dynamic codes for a one-time $9.

Printed codes are permanent but links change. Turn this into a dynamic QRCode.Pub code and you can change where it points any time, with scan counts, for a one-time $9. No subscription, never expires.

How to make it

Choose static for things that will never change: a WiFi network, a vCard, a permanent homepage.
Choose dynamic for anything printed in quantity or for a long time: menus, packaging, signs, flyers, real estate riders, business cards linking to a page.
Enter a link above: download it as a free static code, or click "Make it editable" for a dynamic one.

FAQ

Do static QR codes expire?

No. They contain the destination directly and work as long as that destination exists.

Do dynamic QR codes expire?

They work as long as the provider keeps redirecting them. Many providers stop when a subscription ends. QRCode.Pub codes are paid once and are not switched off for non-payment.

Which scans better?

Dynamic codes usually have fewer dots because the short link is shorter than most full URLs, so they scan more easily when printed small.
